Capstone Project: Final Portfolio Assessment

Welcome to the Capstone Project — the final step in your journey through the Online Writing Course for Graduates. This practical assessment is designed to test your mastery of the skills you’ve developed and to simulate the real-world writing tasks you’ll handle as a freelance writer or digital content professional.

By completing this project, you’ll build a strong writing portfolio, demonstrate your specialization, and qualify to earn your Certified Online Writing Professional certificate.

📌 Your Task

Choose ONE specialization track below and complete three required tasks under that track.

✍️ Track 1: Academic Writing

• Write a 1,000-word literature review (APA format) on an academic topic of your choice
• Draft a research proposal with a title, background, methodology, and references
• Submit a Turnitin plagiarism report showing a similarity index below 15%

💻 Track 2: Technical Writing

• Create a step-by-step user manual or SOP for a software/product
• Write a technical help guide with visuals, flowcharts, or diagrams
• Draft a technical document using AI (e.g., Notion AI or ChatGPT)

📄 Track 3: Resume and LinkedIn Writing

• Write a professional, ATS-optimized resume using a tool like Rezi or Resume.io
• Create a custom cover letter for a real or sample job ad
• Build or optimize your LinkedIn profile and include before/after screenshots

📢 Track 4: Copywriting and Sales Writing

• Write a 1,000-word SEO blog post targeting a specific keyword
• Create a sales landing page using the AIDA framework
• Design a social media ad copy set (e.g., for Facebook or LinkedIn)

🔧 Bonus Requirement (All Tracks)

At least one of your three submissions must show how you used an AI tool ethically during content creation.

📸 Attach a screenshot or a short note describing how the tool was used to assist — not replace — your writing process.

• Combine all 3 tasks into one well-organized PDF, OR
• Upload your work into a Google Drive folder and share it with view access
• Use this naming format: YourName_CapstoneTrack_Esposearch

After receiving your capstone project:

1. 📝 We’ll review your full course progress, including quiz scores and your final project, with emphasis on the Academic Writing and Blog Writing components.
2. 🧾 Within 7 days, you’ll receive your Certified Online Writing Professional certificate (PDF) — a key credential to showcase your skills and readiness for the freelance market.
